I have heard that there is a firmaware ypdate for the Smart Controller so that it can control the Mini3 Pro in addition to the Mini2 etc...
My Smart Controller tells me that Version V01.01.0064 is the current one and it offers no update. Is that correct

the rc pro can work with mini 3, air 2s, and mavic 3
the older 1st gen smart controller can do mini 2, air 2s, and mavic 2.

have yet to hear of any updates like you state

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. The DJI Smart Controller only supports Mavic 2, Mavic Air 2, DJI Mini 2 and DJI Air 2s. We haven't release a firmware for smart controller to be compatible with the Mini 3 Pro. If you want to use your Mini 3 Pro with a smart remote, kindly please check the DJI RC-N1, DJI RC and DJI RC Pro. Thank you for your understanding and support!
