Floating on by.......


Spotted these two just using the tide to get down river,   luckily I ws flying the mini 3 and they did hear me approach.

Impressive capture DA.    Appears the leader was holding up for the follower to catch up.  Nice how the Mini 3 was able to quietly get into position.  Don't think you could "sneak" up like that with the M2P.

Yep. It was exhilarating, but exhausting
Only a couple of brief flights of the Mini3Pro - it quickly became too windy the further we climbed.
Had to rely on the trusty Pocket 2 for most of the journey.
Coming down the other side, there were by then so many people about it would have been unwise to launch the drone. No rain at all, mist on departure in the car - breaking through into full sun on the start of the hike.  Mist obscured Kinder Downfall and the Mermaid's Pool for a while but cleared for us to get some good shots with the Pocket2.  Full sun for the descent into Edale.

Lovely,   I checked the weather yesterday morning and it looked like it was going to be good for you.  

I'll look forward to some of the footage and hearing which one youre going to scale next.

The entire route took us 7 hours, as we made numerous stops along the way for photography and refreshment.  The 3h30 calculated by Google Maps must be for fell runners or mountain goats - it takes no account of the terrain.

I usually look at routes like that on www.alltrails.com and even their estimates are for speed walkers I think.

Sometimes you can get away with it if the wind is just right.  Ive also noticed that people that dont know drones always think its quieter than they expected.

Very true, especially if the drone is on the down wind side of the subject(s).  

Non-pilots here thought when the Mini first came out that it sounded like a mad swarm of bees.  I really like that the Mini 3 seems so much quieter to me.

It can be wild. We went in July, and set off in sunshine. Part way up, it began to rain and the wind picked up. Nearing the top, the rain has changed to ice spicules blown horizontally by the wind, scouring our faces. At the summit, the fog had closed in and there was a foot of snow. No view to be had, and the four of us piled into the survival hut for a rest before setting off back down.

I've done Snowdon more than once. One time was in full sun, so the views were outstanding.

ive only done it once,   we had all the weather on the way up,  but it did clear for a while at the top and I can confirm the views.   It was very busy up there,  we took the miners path but a lot seem to follow the railway line up.    They've built a cafe at the top now I hear.

There always was a cafe but it was closed for a long while.
Maybe they've refurbished it.

Looking at the website it opened in 2009 and they were building it when we went up there.

I must have a false memory of a cafe, as it was in the 1980's I was last up there. I thought it was adjacent to the station building.
