Use-case

• A cave - an underground chamber
• No light other than flash lights on helmets
• Large underground cavity
• Need to fly around a drone, in the cave
• Need to rise in altitude more than 5 meters, in the cave
  

Problem at hand

• When trying this w M2P the drone had it's boottom lights on but still, was wading in the air
• Obsacle avoidance was not really operating
• Although the bottom light was on, it wasn;t able to lock it's position to the ground and was wading in the air
• At parts where sunlight did came in and visibility was good Obstacle avoidace did work but due to no GPS reception it wasn't able to rise up more than 5 meters in the air
• I wasn't able to really use the drone in the cave
  

Summary

• In confined spaces where light exist but no GPS is avail obstacle detection does work, but, M2P is not able to rise over a hight of approx 5 meters
• In poor light conditions there is no Obstacle avoidance and no position lock what so ever => drone is un-usable
  

Does Mavic 3 has any improvements re the above mentioned ?

One of my notable M3 crashes was exactly this, low light, GPS denied, and well, operator errors!

not really a good idea, get a 5m pole and put an OSMO pocket on it might do the trick ;+)

Exactly!  Before I fly into a door frame, I will let my OM6 and iPhone do a flyby and add the prop noise if I need to in post.

Cannot agree more with Hallmark's 5m pole suggestion. Flying a consumer drone in a dark cave, with no GPS, and having the obstacle avoidance to work is mission impossible.

Hello there. Good day and thank you for sharing these interesting information with us. Just a friendly reminder that DJI do not recommend flying your DJI drone indoors and caves as the environment may have interference and caused an incident and also during low light condition as the vision sensors may not work properly. DJI suggest to choose an outdoor open area where the GPS is good, no magnetic interference, to fly the drone and check if all the functions are normal. Thank you and fly safe always.

I tried this, with some practice, you can get nice shots with a pocket on a stick.
This was my first test.

Drones are'nt for all senarios. a mix of cameras and flying cameras is a complete set. And some lights too.

Yeah, it was in the BD era (before drone)

Find some 360 lights in order to get the walls lighten....as you will not use GPS, can fix the lights on top of drone, no worries that GPS signal will be scrambled. Still, you will get a limit for operating WO Gps as around 3 meters...
Will be a high probability to smash the drone....

Drone shots just provide a lot better perspective of locations.  Easy to spot things also that you would miss from ground level.

Yeah, I find drone footage relatively boring when it comes to storytelling.
But when mixed with ground footage, things get much more interesting.

Just got back from getting my bivalent COVID third booster and the old annual Flu shot.  Hopefully, my arms will not be sore tomorrow.

I hear you.  Unfortunately, the latest two strains showing up here are spreading much quicker and the effects are somewhat mismatched.  Some cases are mild and others are bad requiring hospitalization.

Yes, that also.    My grandmother lived to be 103 and my grandfather lived to be 101.  On the morning my grandmother died she was up making an entire breakfast from scratch.  She did that every morning.  She never ate processed foods as everything was home grown on her small farm.  She butchered her on chickens and pigs.  She was something to see in action.

It's not a guarantee, but I am feeling this processed food is one of the bigger problems for our health.
Unfortunately it is quite time consuming to not use it.

Hence, why it is called "fast food".  Quick and easy meal, but probably not the best for our long term health.  I try to eat as healthy as possible but I'm sure I could do better.  At least I eat lots and lots of seafood which is loaded with Omega 3.

Unfortunately the 'effects' are only visible on the long term, so it is quite hard to make claims.

You're certainly right about that.  At least people are becoming more aware of the harmful effects of some of the contents of fast food and are trying to avoid them.  However, most companies are really, really good at marketing their products, especially adept at "hiding" in small print some of the ingredients.
