Much ado about nothing, right, until you ingest a DJI3 or Inspire into an engine on takeoff or landing.

"Podunk Tower Global Air 55 is declaring an emergency due to engine failure and requesting immediate landing runway 27!"

"Gee Fred that drone broke right through your window at 250 knots, guess the duck gave a little compared to the drone, Fred, Fred, Ohh Fred!"

very possibly accurate physics though, as a enertainment stunt rigger i have to work out stored kynetic energy of objects and other such things,
and the winglets are aluminium composite, not titanium like engine blades
and a 1 kilo lipo brick at 200 knots could well do some damage

Most people have simply no idea.
Aero engines on all passenger aircraft have 80 per cent of thrust generated by the fan blades.  The core engine that provides the energy to the fan blades is at the centre so the engine and any foreign object will no enter this core engine, it is designed this way.
The fan blades are designed to accept birds and even multiple birds if you are unlucky enough to fly through a flock of them, and simply shoot them out the jet pipe.
If a fan blade does detach then the engine will shut down without any further damage.  The remaining 1, 2, or 3 engines will have sufficient thrust to complete the take off or landing perfectly safely.  It's all designed that way, and would not be certified to fly if it was not proven.
The geofencing provided by DJI prevents us from flying into areas where this could happen, so we as a DJI community are safe.
Don't fly above 400 feet, and don't try to circumvent the no fly zones.
