Great portrayals of those poignant relics.

Unfortunately, the HMAS Otama was removed to be scrapped in Sep (2 months back).

But the other shipwrecks are still there for the public to view.

Those are some amazing videos.    As a recreational diver I love to dive on old shipwrecks.  Can get a bit dangerous but well worth the views if you are extremely careful.

Lots of wildlife displaced at the same time, maybe.  Was it considered a danger to shipping, or just an eyesore?

The ship has languished in the Westernport Bay since 2002 (almost 20 years) while plans to bring it ashore to turn into a museum were stalled.
The sub is a favourite resting place for the seagulls and other birds.

Last year, a heavy storm caused the submarine to list and almost sink into the bay. Parks Victoria and the Ministry of Defence then forcibly acquired the sub to tow it away to WA to be scrapped as there were lead acid batteries in the sub which could pose environmental hazards if the submarine sank into the bay.

Ah, I see. The environmental hazard would be a primary concern, of course.
