Hello,

I'm going to be travelling from Florida, USA to Ireland later this month with my new DJI Mini3Pro. Nice drone!  I am interested in steps I should take now to prevent problems later. I only intend to fly for pleasure taking pictures of our family and the Ireland landscape, cliffs, etc.

1. For instance, how does one get insurance to fly drones in Ireland from Florida (online perhaps?)
2. Is there an FAA equivalent in Ireland I need to register myself and/or my drone with?  I have a 107 license for the USA. My drone is under 250 grams.
3. How do I keep some over eager unknowledgeable TSA, airport or airline security  or customs official from confiscating my nifty new Mini3Pro?  Needed paperwork, etc.?
4. Is there a way to see what the no fly zones are in Ireland ahead of time?  I have the DJI RC Controlle with stock GO FLY. There are no Irish maps in it as far as I can tell.
TIA for any info, tips and do's and don'ts!

North or South Ireland?

We purchased a "Love Ireland Tours" package which includes both, a big counterclockwise circle starting and ending in Dublin that covers east, north, west and south Ireland.  Should I do anything different for north vs south Ireland?  I have read that north Ireland is more like England.-

There is an insurance company in Ireland, Burke Insurance, that tells me no insurance is needed for a drone under 250 grams.  I'm not sure how true that is but it is hard to imagine an under 250 gram drone doing much damage to persons and property, save catching on fire.  Since I won't be flying near any people or private property to begin with, maybe I worry too much.

OK,  In northern Ireland you'll need to register with the CAA and display the operator id on the drone.    You only need insurance there for commercial use.

Thaniks so much, that was an informative read.  I lead me to the iaa site where I found this.  I realize this covers the entire country and there certainly are many restricted zones here in the US, but it's like drinking from a fire hose, especially this

https://www.iaa.ie/docs/default-source/publications/aeronautical-notices/u---unmanned-aircraft/aeronautical-notice-u-04-direction-for-uas-geographical-zones-issue-18.pdf?sfvrsn=d57219f3_4

It appears some areas on the tour that I had planned to fly the drone in are restricted, like most all of Waterford for instance.

Thanks, I took the test and only got one wrong out of 40, the one where the drone owner is taking a picture of a bird in his own tree on his own land.Do you happen to know if Ireland will honor this authorization?  I think I read somewhere that Ireland does honor authorizations from other EU civil air authorities.

Personally I would just register it with them as well -
