Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. DJI is committed to complying with the new European Drone Regulation for future drone models. We will work with notified bodies to obtain additional drone certificates over the coming years. More details will be announced in due course. Thank you for your understanding and support.

yes, this interested many many users, dji please do something about this.
fyi, real net weight of mavic 2 series is few grams below 900g,

i'm realy hoping there would be some sense for this, since if m3 could get C class certified just by firmware update, than clearly other drones could do that, too. yes, i am aware of few restriction (top speed is reduced and min. distance from objects in tracking is extended to 50m etc), but it it still better than having perfectly working drone(s), suddenly not legally accepted in rural areas after end of 2023.

no, noise is not a problem (it's not that loud drone anyway, comparing to other older ones) . mostly is about impact energy etc, this is where speed limitation etc in new m3 firmware coming from, i guess. since m3 is basically same as m2 in mass, then as i said, there won't be that much of a deal do that via update (imo).

Sadly it weighs more than 900g so would have to go to C2 and then its too fast and too loud,   the last firmware for the M3 addressed both of those issues making it slower in EU and reducing the sound to 85db.

dji describes drone as few grams over 900g, but from any user i've seen that have actually weight m2 (me included) is 2 or 3 grams under. even if we rake their official  tom weight, it would be C2 class, which is still better than nothing, i guess.-
also i doubt noise is over 85db, m2 does have already lower pitch props and with some locking of top speed, noise would be reduced probably.

hi all. It's been 3 months into the new regulation. what is new with DJI drones that will fall into C2? Any news about certifications of the old drones? Can we register drones 4 years old without certification on device. Do we fly them in open group or with special permissions. A lot of unconfirmed information from different sides. Mavic 2 Pro is in case, bought 4 years ago.

No news for now.  No rush, the law will not be applied until January 2024. you have a year in advance.

I read on our civilian aviation pages few opposing sentences. One that states it will be A1 and one that stated that all old drones 900g up to 4kg without C mark will be flown as A3. But I have sent email to the office so they clarify these statements.

Without C mark

Until January 1, 2024:
A1 -> MTOM <500g
A2 -> MTOM <2kg
A3 -> MTOM <25kg

After January 1, 20024
A1 -> MTOM <250g | SPEED <19m/s
A2 -> Not possible
A3 -> MTOM <25kg

With C mark

A1 -> C0 MTOM <250g | SPEED <19m/s
         C1 MTOM <900g | SPEED <19m/s
A2 -> C2 | MTOM <4kg | SPEED (3m/s)
A3 -> C0, C1, C2, C3, C4 | MTOM <25kg

Mavic 2 MTOM, Pro: 907g, Zoom: 905g Source DJI website.  By the way I just weighed an M2Z it is also 907g.

If it obtains a C classification it will potentially be C2. So A2 and A3 possible.

If it does not obtain a classification he will remain in A3, and A2 will still be possible until January 1, 2024

The extra 8 grams represent the mass of a propeller. Unless there is an exemption, which is not provided for in the law to date, we are not ready to see the M2 in A1.

Maybe it's because I took it with the battery 100% charged.

So, there could be a C1 upgrade package for M2 with different batteries (10g less heavy), new props (to slow down and reduce noise) and a new firmware again to reduce noise, speed and to comply with any other required régulations. I would definitely be willing to buy this package for a reasonable price.

C2 is absoluely possible for Mavic 2 Pro, just depends on DJI.
A software update can solve the speed/noise issues.
Honestly hope DJI will do the C2 for these drones.
