So instead of using your big normal phone... I am curious about just getting a super small android phone and running DJI Fly on it velcro it to the top of the goggles or something

you can find the Palm PVG100 (which has Android 8.1) for under $100 some places. (just ordered a used one on Ebay for $44, likely going to tear it down and 3D print a small clip case for it.

I was going down the path of looking at small Singleboard computers to install Android on in a tight form factor as well, but $50-$100 is cheap to just buy a mini phone.
Looks like the only real requirement is the phone has a GPS or location fix capability which most do, and Android 7.1 or greater for the Fly App.

not sure that works, I've been flying it in my house... no GPS at all... and still wont do anything without the phone connected.

I posted a different thread (cause I couldn't find this one) but a Palm PVG100 works great.
