A recent amnesty by the Police forces of England, brought an astonishing horde of weapons off the streets. Guns and knives of all descriptions.
A company has used thousands of these decommissioned weapons to make some amazing artistic sculptures.
Now on display to the public in the promotion of the fight against the weapons culture in the UK.

That is very impressive!

They were kept busy answering questions, and filling in questionnaires. Nice day for it, away from their regular duties.

Impressive shot Mr. B.    Very creative use of the weapons that were turned in.  I applaud the effort but you'll never get the guns out of the "outlaws" hands.  They will always find a way to stay armed.

No argument here.  I'm firm on the right to bear arms.  However, I'm not a fan of assault type weapons in the hands of non-military people.  You shouldn't need an AR-15 to defend yourself.  Also, it is my firm belief that every potential gun owner needs gun safety training and a mental health consult.  99% of the recent mas shootings have been conducted by people with known mental health issues.

Those sculptures are very amazing and the cause is very admirable. While I may not personally think that nobody should have any kind of weapon (I have myself a couple of crossbows), I sure do agree that it should be quite carefully regulated. We should have a right to self-defend, but there really is no sense in people having AK-47s as "self-defence weapons". And the issue with the mental health considerations is very important. Not every mental health issue causes people to be violent towards themselves nor other people (I myself suffer from occasional depression and anxiety but would never want to hurt people), but those who have those kinds of issues should not have access to deadly weapons in any case. This is an important question here in Finland too as of now, as there have been concern-raising reports of children and youth violence crimes being on the rise. We might not be the most violent nation on Earth, but even one case is too many. Maybe something similar would be useful here too?

But back to the picture itself. That is a perfect subject for a photo and the end result looks very convincing. I support the idea for this kind of art. :-)
