You know when you watch a GoPro or Action 2 video that was recorded with Hypersmooth/Rock Steady, and for instance when you land, the picture corrects it self seemingly a split second after the landing, like there is a delay in the EIS? Is this happening in the goggle view when recording with Rock Steady on in the O3 AU? I ask because I destroyed a brand new build the other day after clipping a branch while "throwing" the quad over a tree that was less than 100 yards away from me. The last thing I saw was the branch, JUST before I hit it, then the screen froze and I crashed and broke two arms on my AOS5v2. I was a good 60 to 90 feet in the air and I would have normally been able to recover from clipping a branch. Clipping the branch shouldn't have stopped the video feed and you'd think the feed wouldn't have stopped unless you were already on the ground. Again, the last thing I saw was the branch 60 to 90 feet in the air, seemingly JUSTbefore I hit it. The branch was in view just before the screen froze. I can only assume I was already crashed the moment the screen froze due to delays in Rock Steady, assuming Rock Steady effects are translated to goggle view as well as recorded view.
Does this make sense? Is it wise to turn Rock Steady off when flying proximity? Now that I think about it, I was using Controller 2 and I wonder if I didn't just disarm in the panic to avoid the branch. That would have stopped the recording at that point but the screen went black, so I'm doubting that was the case and unfortunately, the AU recording was corrupted after the crash and I have since then formatted the goggle sd card like an idiot without saving the video first. I rarely keep goggle video. Any thoughts on flying with Rock Steady on and flying proximity/freestyle?
