The Alkimos was a Greek-owned merchant ship that was wrecked on the coast north of Perth, Western Australia in 1963.
The area was named after it, but now there isn't much of the ship left to see above the water. But it's popular with scuba divers.

Hi, great pictures!! The ship looks like one of the "Liberty" ships that hauled cargo to England and elsewhere during WW2.

Probably sold as surplus after the war.

Ah. Thanks for that revealing photo.  I thought the bit sticking out of the water might have been a conning tower

Nice shots RR.   No doubt I'd love to dive on that old shipwreck.  From the size of the ship it is easy to see why it would attract divers.

RR, I just have to ask...what is the minimum distance requirement between eaves on houses to preclude fires from easily jumping from one roof to another?  Stateside that would for sure be a building code violation.

It certainly looks like it. I wonder what happened to the rest of it? I guess it was stripped for scrap over the years

It used to be about two metres, but in recent years they are allowed to be almost touching

Wow, I'm stunned to hear they allow that.  That's a recipe for a catastrophic event.

It certainly is. There are laws against growing trees close to a roof

Certainly money to be made from it.

That makes it even weirder.  No tree close to roof but two roofs can almost touch, that's just baffling.

If I was house shopping I'd for sure try to avoid having a house so close to my neighbor's house.  However, living on a boat I don't have that issue to deal with.

True. I'm a land lubber, but I had a few metres between me and the neighbours, so not too bad

I'm glad your house has a good separation distance from your neighbor's house.
