How to choose a subject to focus on?

When the focus method is smart mode,
How do you choose which person to focus on among the many people on the screen?

I select by dragging my finger across the monitor.
But I want to select a subject without taking my hand off the hand grip.
Is there any way to select through the hand grip?

If you have any tips, please share.

Just turn the front wheel and you’ll see the green box is switched to a maximum of 5 persons. It’s in the manual.

I think there's a way to hold a button and use the focus wheel to cycle through subjects, but I haven't tried it out yet because I've been doing more "prepared" and manual focus stuff.


What I would do in those situations is hit the little square window button on the left stick that turns the smart focus box around the subject's head from yellow to green and back again. I'd find that if I was locked onto the wrong target with green, the camera tries cycling through other subjects when placed back into 'yellow' mode (until I lock it in again with green). It's not perfect, but it keeps my hands on the grips.

⇧ What button are you talking about here?
I tried with several buttons but it doesn't work.
