I don't have a 3D printer and I found the paper windsurfer antenna not strong enough. So I thought to make it from a cd box because the bending of it is almost the same as the paper bend shield. Now I have a stronger Windsurfer antenna. This is how I did it:

This worked great for me! I used the top part of the CD case to make the ribs that fit on the antennas though. That section has a flat surface that makes it easier to glue the pieces to the shield.

They are getting close to doubling my distance. My last test was at 400 feet. Without them I got out to 1.18 miles. With them I got out to 1.82 miles. Very impressive!
