The new firmware updates released in the last few days make a mention of the User Manual version 1.6. However, when I look at DJI's websites, it seems that the 1.4 is the newest version currently posted.
This leads me to my question: Does anyone have a link to the new manual?

Maybe a mis-print?  The latest version downloadable at present is still 1.4  as you state.

It seems that the only difference between v 1.4 and v 1.6 of the manual is in reference to the prop guards.
