Yesterday I had went out for a photoshoot in the nearby Mojave Desert.
The shoot itself was ground-based with a conventional DSLR and a lovely young model, so it is not depicted here (for those interested, feel free to check my instagram feed @darth_slr. Warning: NSFW).
We have covered several locations around Lancaster, CA area, including a Big Rock Creek in the Sierras.
The creek is highly seasonal, and most of the year is dry as a bone.
However this winter/spring Californaia was enjoying quite a high level of precipitation, which led so substantial snowpacks in the montains, which are primary source of water for the said creek.
When we arrived at the location, I was suprised to see a waterfall about a mile away. I have been to this place dozens of times over two decades, and I have NEVER seen it like that.
Getting there by foot was a pretty tall order that would take at least an hour if not more, due to a very rough terrain. But that was precisely the siuation in which drones shine. Pressed though we were for time, we agreed that it would be ok to spend 10 minutes taking a short flight and snapping a few picturs and flicks.
I didn't have the time to to process the videos, but I though I'd share a few still frames from that outing.
1. A view from above the parking lot. The waterfall almost dead center of the frame, a bit at 11 o'clock.
2. A 3x3 pano closer up.
3. And a single frame covering the lower step. I think it's at least 40ft tall, maybe more.
Thank you for stopping by!
