It seems clear that DJI are well aware of the fact that recording D-Cinelike footage in H.264 with the M3P produces files that are incompatible with most software. It's absolutely infuriating because it's so easy to accidentally leave it in H.264 (because who would think that a drone would have a file format that produces unworkable files), and as I have this weekend I now have a drone full of files that will need to be re-encoded to H.265, a huge waste of time, storage and most importantly with DEGRADATION OF VIDEO QUALITY.
If DJI can't be bothered to resolve this issue, could you at the very least just *grey out* the option for H.264 when using D-Cinelike so I can't accidentally have this happen AGAIN. That would take your developers 5 minutes to do but would save your customers a great deal of headaches trying to fix damaged footage. And it must be damaged in some way because there is no reason why it shouldn't play if the file was complete as it should be.

Sort it out DJI.

Some software can process these files,  it's just not common,  if you get caught out you can always use Handbrake for free to re-encode the files.

What is wrong with using H.265 from the start?
Is there any special reason you need old H.264, because I don't see any benefits, except if you have really old computer which can not handle H.265, but other then this I can not see any benefit.

H.265 is much more render intensive on less modern hardware. Like a LOT more intensive. It's nice to have the option of H.264, but not if it screws up all your files
