Was wondering if there is anyway DJI can make the software be able to switch cameras while recording. RIght now if you are filming with the regular camera you must hit stop, change camera then hit record again. I understand there are different sensors so it's not as simple as just changing lenses but perhaps.

When recording and you hit the button to change to 3X or from 3X to 1X it automates the process.  Recording stops, camera switches and recording starts again or something to that effect. Just a thought.

Add my vote for that wish as well.

As it is not possible to switch between lenses while filming, I sent the drone back. It is an absolute minimum requirement that the drone can do this. Just like with the iPhone and other cell phones, users are used to switching lenses while filming. DJI is taking a step backwards here and is not able to keep up technologically.

I think the problem with the drone is it's using TWO DIFFERENT Sensors....

This is not a problem. You need to turn on another camera, and when the video stream comes from it, switch the recording to it, and turn off the original camera.

In theory can be done...in practice is hard...You cannot mux 2 video streams from 2 sensors in a small drone....the CPU cannot handle such thing....maybe...maybe if is a low res like Full HD....but you need to remember that you do not have a Snapdragon 2 in this drone, but a all-in-one CPU and 2 cores, one for autonomous flight and other for encoding and flight parameters....
So...I doubt will be ever done in this configuration.
Also another thing....Your 7x is not with exactly same center as main camera...switching it requires to readjust the drone position, making the footage to be unusable without editing it...

This is why I have big doubts that will ever be made...
PS. Air 3 is reaching the developing life EOL in a few months, as the next Gen will need to merge...so....another minus in order to achieve this request.

You just need to very quickly switch the stream from one camera to another.
And taking into account scaling, centering is not critical.
