Whenever I execute a waypoint mission of substancial duration, I see that the file is truncated to 3.76GB and the rest is put in a new file. Is this expected?

Yes, it's expected.

It's a limitation of the file system used on SD cards.

Almost all cameras that record to SD card will also truncate to somewhere around 4GB.

except there is no truncation going on here, no video is lost, no content is being removed; nothing is being shortened or squared off or reduced.  no need to try to use fancy words or whatever to describe what is going on. the file reaches a certain limit and it's done....a new file is started.

for example 3.257 truncated could be 3

Hi, Harper. Thank you for reaching out. No Original Thought is correct. It is normal as the external microSD card only stores a file with a 4GB limit size. A video file with a size of approximately 4 GB will be split automatically during storage in the microSD card. Hope this answers your question.
