I know that lots of DJI drone owner/fliers have opted to go with the third-party Drone Valley wireless microphone kit for the controllers that came out with the Mini 3 Pro.  I've seen lots of video showing that they work well with this particular RC controller.
Now that DJI has introduced their latest version of the RC2 Controller, I'm wondering if anyone here has attempted to use the same Drone Valley wireless mic kit on their newer RC2 version controller?

I ask because I ordered one of these third-party wireless microphone kits after being assured that this Drone Valley wireless kit would work on the newer RC2 Controllers.  Being that connecting these microphones is generally so simple, and no matter how I go about it, I can't get it to work.  I'm left to assume that I either got a defective unit OR, the changes made in the features of the newer RC2 Controller when compared to the previous version, may be rendering the Drone Valley wireless microphone kit now usless when used with the newer controller.

The main changes made to the features of the newer RC2 Controller, with respect to using a third-party wireless microphones like the Drone Valley unit, have to do with the screen records and the fact that they can no longer be saved directly to the SD Card.

So, back to my original question:
Have any of you tried using the Drone Valley third-party wireless microphone kit on your latest version of the DJI RC2 Controller?  If so, did you get it to work?
I'm hoping that you did get it to work so you can tell me how you did it.
IF you did get this third-party wireless microphone kit to work, and I can't seem to get my particular unit to work with the latest RC2 Controller, it can only mean that I'm either just holding my mouth the wrong way as I'm attempting to use it or, I have a defective unit.

A little help please.

Hello, there. Due to the lack of a built-in microphone in DJI RC 2, when using DJI RC 2 for live streaming, an external microphone is required to pick up the audio. We recommend using DJI Mic for better sound quality.
We have not tested the compatibility of third-party products so we can not guarantee their performance.

Greetings DJI Wanda:

And thanks for taking the time to reply question.
I finally figured out why I was unable to get my existing wireless microphone kit to work.
It turns out that my third-party wireless microphone worked fine once I figured out the nuances of how to use it.

I wasn't looking for audio perfection.  I just wanted audio to be included at the time I made my video recordings.

Thanks again.

Hey retard me too buddy can you tell me how you got your mic to work.
Thank you very much

I found that if I plugged the receiver-part of the microphone kit into the RC controller first and then turn on the RC controller in that sequence, it tended to work for me.

Another important thing about the Drone Valley microphone kit was that I had to LONG-PRESS the little on/off button on the side of the microphone itself.

When I had pressed the small on/off button on the side of the microphone initially, a little red light would go on.  I thought that this meant that the microphone was on so, I would clip it onto my collar and proceed with my video recording.

It turns out that as soon as I released that little on/off button on the microphone, the little red light would turn off again.  This meant that the microphone was NOT on.

I was getting ready to send the whole damn thing back to Drone Valley because I couldn't get it to work.  Out of shear frustration I pinched the microphone between my thumb and index finger trying to crush the housing on the microphone so I'd be able to use that as my excuse for sending it back.

To my surprise, as I crushed the small button on the microphone, I notice that the little red light that had turned on before, then turned from red to green.

The green light meant that the microphone was now on for the duration of my drone flight.  When I was done, I simply LONG-PRESS that same little button to turn it off again.

You also have to swipe down on the RC's viewing screen and click on the "RECORD SCREEN" icon to get the RC to actually record sound using the microphone kit.

Hope this helps.

I'm confused at this moment. My Boya microphone works perfect on my mobile phones but the reciever will not work in my mini 4 pro's RC controller. Maybe DJI have done something to make people buy their microphones.

If you haven't already done so, you have to swipe down on the RC screen.  This brings up some options.  One of these options is "Screen Record."
Select the Screen Record option.

This allows your RC to recognize the receiver and to record your voice using your Lavalier microphone.  Your RC controller will record the same video as your Mini 4 drone does.
In post processing you'll have to either separate your recorded sound from the video recording that the RC recorded.  This gives you the voice recording you're after.

I don't want to come off sounding like I know it all because I definitely do not know it all.  I had to watch several YouTube tutorials in order to finally figure it out myself.

Hey there, thanks for reaching out about the Drone Valley microphone kit with the RC2 controller. It's a common question for those looking for third-party audio solutions.  While I haven't seen any official confirmation from DJI about the Drone Valley mic compatibility with the RC2, there are a few things to consider:  DJI's Official Statement: It might be worth checking the DJI website or contacting their support directly. They might have information on compatible third-party microphones for the RC2. Alternative Solutions: Since the Drone Valley mic might not be ideal, have you considered other options? DJI offers their own wireless microphone solution,

Alternatively, some users have reported success with Rode wireless lavalier mics with the RC2 using the correct adapter. Compatibility with Screen Recording:

It's true the RC2 doesn't save screen recordings directly to SD card anymore. This might not be directly related to the microphone functionality, but it's a good point.

Here's another option to explore:  While it's not a microphone solution, some users have found success with wireless headphones by Ronin for monitoring audio while flying with the RC2. This might be a good temporary solution while you sort out the microphone issue.  Overall, I'd recommend checking with DJI first and exploring alternative microphone options or adapters. Hopefully, this helps! If you manage to get the Drone Valley mic working with the RC2, please share your experience, it would be valuable information for others.

I'm afraid I have no clue.
The Mic I'm using is a lavalier type that comes in two pieces. One piece is the actual microphone that you wear somewhere on your person and the other piece is connected to the RC controller.

It's not what would be considered a "Wired Mic."  I'm sure there are some wired microphones available but, I'm not familiar enough with the subject of microphones to give an informed suggestion.

I just bought Boya BY-V20 microphones and they work fine with my Samsung Phone. Just plug receiver in phone's USB-C -port and blue LED is lits up. Then turn mic on and everything works out of the box. And sound quality is quite good. I have tried it also with Oneplus 7 and it works just fine.

But when connect Boya receiver in DJI RC2 -controller, not even blue LED lights up. Nothing happens and I haven't found any solution to get it recognized. I tried to plug it in and then turn RC2 on, but no success. Maybe RC2 does not have any drivers for wireless mic any other than their own? It seems that they should be there as it seems to work in quite many android devices just fine.
I think I will use my phone to record sound track. It may be even wiser option, because with RC2 screen capture you record useless video too, but you need only soundtrack.

A lot of this technology comes from PLC's.  (Programmable Logic Controllers).  These require a press of the button generally of 3 seconds or more, for the signal to switch the power on.  Often necessary with other functions as well.

I have also tried Boya wireless mics, which work fine when the receiver is plugged into the USB port on my phone, but not when used with the RC2 controller. The problem appears to be that the RC2 is not supplying power to the Boya receiver. I tried the various fixes suggested here, including plugging the receiver in both before and after switching on the RC2, and also activating screen recording, but neither works. I contacted Boya about this and they apologised and offered me a refund, but gave no reason why the problem exists.
