Hello everyone,

I just bought a DJI Osmo Action 4 and went snorkeling with it twice. The first time everything went well. Now today during the second time during filming I got a warning about " water pressure" and I turned it off. When I tried to turn it on again awhile later it wasn't going on and I noticed the usb c compartment was not sealed anymore. Some sea water has come in and im wondering what has the highest chance of saving it.

Should I rinse it with tap water to remove the salt and let it dry for several days with every compartment open?
However, the amount of water that got in seems limited. Therefore is it better to let it dry without rinsing and hope for the best?

Thank you in advance!

So after rinsing and drying out for a full week I was able to turn it on, but the screen would remain dark blue and I could not go to the start menu.
So I contacted DJI through repair.dji.com and explained the situation. Then they transferred me to the right person who arranged a shipment to the repair facility. Finally they ended up sending me a new camera free of charge. I don't know if it had something to do with the fact that it was only 3 weeks after I bought it. But in summary, the camera was beyond repair but DJI was very cooperative.

In your case, you also specifically got sea water to enter the camera, rinsed it out with tap water and you're leaving it to dry?

Hello everyone. My Action 4 has leaked seawater into the charge port a few days ago. I was snorkeling along the surface so no depth involved. Now it won't turn on. The screens light up blank as soon as I connect power but it won't do anything more. I've only had it for 4 months and until this snorkeling trip I'd only ever used it mountain biking and It's been great. Gutted!

That's really unfortunate. I have nothing but good success with my Action 4. Been snorkelling in so many different places and not a single issue. I wonder if the door was not closed properly or did some sand get in there. I always thoroughly rinse my Action 4 with fresh water as soon as I get out of the sea water.

I'm pretty sure everything was closed up properly. I'll make some enquiries with the warranty people when I get home to NZ. I'm currently in Oz. Fingers crossed.

I would find it highly unlikely that water would have gone through the lense cover and migrated into the USB compartment is what I am saying. Further more you only mentioned the lense cover. Nothing else.

While I know that these cameras are waterproof and are rated as such, I still won’t risk it. I regard their 'water proofness’ as a secondary thing or back up and always put it into a case.

At least then, if the case leaks there is a secondary backup on the camera with a bit of luck. I even do that I the rain with a wireless mic connected.

I don't use mine for underwater filming but I do use it for white water kayaking and I have taken many, many swims resulting in quite high water pressure against the camera and probably down to a depth of about 1 to 1.5m, It's not leaked as yet. When I get home and open up the compartments to dry off, I can see the moisture around the o-ring but not past it, so it's doing its job. I also want to hear whats going on, especially the talking parts.

If I did want to use it for snorkelling then there is no way I would want to do it without the underwater case. I mean, its not like the fish can talk so I don't really miss too much sound wise

Hello,

I have just returned from the Maldives. I have a problem with my camera. Despite the shutters being completely closed, water somehow got into the camera and flooded the interior. The camera was no more than 0.5 meters underwater and for no longer than an hour. Now it won't turn on.

What should I do?

Thank you.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

We apologize for the inconvenience. If the Osmo Action 4 has water damage, follow the steps below:

1. Remove it from water immediately. Power it off and remove the battery.
2. Dry the surface of the camera with a clean, soft cloth. Pay special attention to check for water in the battery compartment, microSD card slot, ports, microphone, and cracks.
3. We recommend submitting a repair request after drying the camera, and then send it back for testing.

If you wish to send your unit, you may use this link here: (https://www.dji.com/si/support). Rest assured your case will be handled accordingly.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Sorry to hear that. I'm just back from 1 week in red sea with scuba diving with the case but also snorkling and everything went fine. Just don't forget to rince it with clear water after diving.

It's always best to double or even triple check both compartments to make sure no RED is showing at all prior to every water usage, if you can see RED on either compartment, then its not 100 sealed, remedy and use!

I learned to make certain the lens protector is tightened and if I ever removed it to   see if the ring is properly seated once sealed correctly it should stay that way. never an issue and rarely go in the water but the last time I had no problems I forgot to use clear water found not find any so I rinsed with fresh sink water and soap

While filming on the beach, a freak wave splashed my camere and got water ingress via the USB port. I was using an external mic so didn't have the door on. The high pressure water warning came on soon afterwards and the screen went a blue/grey. I switched off the camera and removed battery then dried it out for a couple of days. When switching back on, the camera worked but had high pressure warning when plugging in external mic. Camera worked as normal without the external mic then after another couple of days drying , the high pressure warning does not return. I never rinsed the camera in clean water for fear of further water damage and the action I took worked for me. I don't know if any long term damage has been done but the camera is working for now. Salt water is the enabler of fast oxidisation but I dont know the effects of a small amount of dry salt inside.

Currently on Sri Lanka for 2 more weeks then heading to Thailand, my Action 4 was leaking water through the charging port after the 2th snorkel, I spent max 2 minutes in the water after I realised it's not turning on, since then I tried to dry it out today, but I'm quite sad as it seems I won't be able to record the rest of my trip. I will send it to DJI as soon as I get back from this trip
