Hi DJI,

Skydio offered a beacon that was helpful during the ActiveTrack. When the target was lost from visual, the drone still had connection with the beacon attached to the target, so it knew by the beacon GPS position where to look for the lost target. It also informed by sound when the drone was let's say more than some treshold distance from the beacon, so the target knew when he was lost by the drone.


Is this solution anyhow being considered by DJI, or Skydio holds patent to it and it won't be implemented by DJI.

true, but not always we track ourselves. However that would be a Minimum Viable Product to track just the controller in case the visual tracking lost the target

Hi Palladin,

You did not understand the question. I was not talking about light beacon to see the drone in the sky. I was talking about sth like this:

It aids the ActiveTracing when the subject is lost. Question: is it sth we could hope for from DJI in the future?

This is done in other apps like Litchi, but not for the mini 4
I suggest DJI do this in the Fly app

We know that the system loses objects if they are blocked by trees or buildings. Tracking the remote control will allow you not to lose the object of surveillance.

I'm also looking for something similar to this. I was trying to get my Mavic Air 2 to track a moving buoy in the ocean using the Smart Controller, but it had a lot of trouble recognizing it as a boat or vehicle. It would constantly lose tracking. I figured it would be much simpler to attach a battery powered tracker on the buoy so the drone knows exactly where to track.

I am also interested in the beacon function on the Skydio. I am designing training videos and would use this function to allow the drone(s) to follow a script and switch from one person or vehicle to another or several others during a shoot. And having the AI tracking feature do this autonomously is exactly what I am looking for. Giving a beacon to each character in the scene would allow this to happen. This is why "just the controller" isnt enough. Thank you for your time.
