I've noticed more and more posters are marking their settings to only be watched on YT.  Guess for monetization reasons.

Personally, when they do that I don't go to YT to watch them.  Why post on the forum if you don't want people to watch them on the forum?

I didnt think that the embedded view stopped the adverts.

I've never seen an advert on videos here on the forum.  However, definitely not the case on YT.

I just checked the YT help and found this


If you've associated your YouTube and AdSense accounts and have allowed embedding videos, you'll automatically be opted into showing ads. Note that embedded videos will honour the same ad-enablement settings as videos on youtube.com.

That's interesting.  Now I'll keep any eye out but so far of all the videos I've seen posted on this forum I've never had to watch and ad with it.  The minute I jump to YT an ad appears with the same video that didn't have one on this forum.

It's to prevent a number of potential problems for channel owners, not to increase ad revenue/monetization reasons.

Click "Watch on YouTube". There is no way to add a simple link to a YouTube video on the forum that does not auto convert into this embedded player, otherwise I would use it.

If you are worried abot problems that your video will be seen in the forum, do not post it in the forum. The way you do it is just spam and nothing else.

I just bought a car kettle,  although it looks like a travel mug that plugs into the lighter socket.  It can boil 400ml of water in about 30 minutes,  so I can imagine it would take forever to use that,   but with a bit of planning it means after a long drive I can arrive and make a fresh coffee with my cafe press.

Ive never had one before so this is a little experiment and I went for one from Ali so its relatively cheap compared to those here,  sadly it was delivered a couple of hours after we had set off.

Search "Invalid Traffic YouTube" to learn more.

If I could I would prefer the option to have a simple hyperlink but the forum automatically converts links to YouTube into this embedded video thing. If you know of a way to prevent this that would be helpful.

Maybe the forum is using an old version of the player. I'm not sure.
It's the same for whatsapp (for example). You never get ads on whatsapp youtube embedded videos.
My channel has been monetized and linked for years, but I only get this yellow dot and the lower pop up ads.

I noticed that videos don't benefit much from being shared here.
So something is not 'good' in this forum, as others do help tremendously.

Yes,  I hate those too,   although Im not seeing them as often these days,   but I do see the YTer punting their sponsor instead.

I think they are tweaking the threshold we can 'take' per video more and more.
