Air 2s crash, no obstacle detected

Hello,

While using my Air 2s with a Weak GPS Signal, the backward sensors did not send any warnings and the drone hit an obstacle.

Is this an excpected behavior or a malfunctioning of the sensors ?

You descended far down a high cliff, staying close to the cliff.
As you went beyond -11 metres, the number of satellites began to fall, because the cliff wall was blocking much of the sky and the sats in that part of the sky.
As you reached -24 metres, you lost full GPS, because you had lost too many sats.
Without GPS, the drone is controllable, but it has lost the ability to hold horizontal position.

You continued to descend and as you reached -280 metres the drone  collided with an obstacle and started tumbling.

Is this an excpected behavior or a malfunctioning of the sensors ?

The reason that Obstacle Avoidance failed to prevent the colllision is that Obstacle Avoidance needs GPS to be able to work.
WIthout GPS, there is no Obstacle Avoidance.

That sounds like really bad design. Is there anywhere that DJI has documented that that is the case?

Given that the drone ended up more than 1000 feet down the cliff, I suspect that might happen.

Thank you, unfortunately the drone is lost in a location very hard to reach, I could not get there

If there is anything good that came from this.  I thought the video was great until the crash.  I am sorry that your drone.  How bad is the damage?

Thanks ! Unfortunately the drone is lost in the jungle and the connection is lost
