I have the mic 2 set (two transmitters in the charging case)  -not the creator combo and of course a pocket 3.
I can’t seem to find info about this online.

Does the pocket 3 ONLY connect to the mic 2 transmitter via Bluetooth or does the pocket 3  have a WiFi receiver built in and it uses BT for the initial handshake.

Asking another way- is it better to plug in my mic 2 receiver into the pocket with the usb- c dongle  for better quality / range?

Hi, Satureyes. Thank you for reaching out. The Osmo Pocket 3 has two connection methods, the first one is using Bluetooth to connect, in this method we can connect OP3 to the MIC 2 transmitter directly via Bluetooth (without a receiver). The second one is OP3 connects to the receiver first(via adapter), and then to a transmitter. These two methods can have the same audio quality but if you have a receiver, we suggest using the receiver method, since the Bluetooth method sometimes might have interference.

The pocket 3 has BT 5.2 which has a theoretical range (line of sight) up to 200M. Quite different from the short range BT stuff of years ago. There are also many other improvements in connection stability, etc. Doing some direct comparisons between BT and TX/RX in terms of audio quality, very little in it.

Well.. I ran the 2x mics into my Osmo pocket when I was speaking at a conference with a co-host. One mic was fine but the other crapped out on me. I had the internal recording but the sound the osmo recorded was awful. I will never ever trust 2.5ghz audio or BT for anything important. Not worth the risk.

Is the single mic 2 transmitter that comes with the creator combo of osmo pocket 3 exactly the same as the transmitters of DJI Mic 2. I bought the Osmo pocket 3 creator combo before the DJ Mic 2 was launched. Do the  transmitters in mic 2 have a better hardware than the one I got with the Osmo pocket 3 creator combo?

Any wireless can be disrupted Bluetooth or WIFI. That's why the Mic 2 has an internal backup feature. Even the professional wireless mics on dedicated frequencies can suffer signal breakup. That's why the option on the Mic 2 transmitters of internal 32 bit float is so valuable. The convenience of a direct recording of the sound is great but each transmitter can at the same time internally record a backup track just in case there is signal disruption.
I've only once needed the backup file once but it's great to have it recording just in case there is an issue.

It is. The MIC 2 connects directly to the P3 using BT.  In fact, you can run two of them directly into the pocket 3, TX1 and TX2.
