So I tap the button in the DJI Fly app so that I might apply to get the required permissions in an area that has an altitude limit. Id like to fly at a spot that is at 519m, but has an altitude limit of 500m. Anyone else able to apply?

The drone only knows the altitude based upon take off point,  so if you take off at 519m ASL the drone will start counting from 0 so you should not need to unlock unless you want to fly higher than the altitude zone of 500m,     ie 1019m ASL.

So by your explanation, and when an area I’d like to fly in has an altitude zone of 500m, and copying from the DJI Fly app for tue area I’d like to fly from, “ 1、Flight restriction in the area
Altitude Zone: 500m
For flight above altitude limit,unlocking is required.”, you reckon don’t need approval?

Only if you want to exceed 500m above where you take off from.

Cool thanks. I’ll try it out this weekend and see if I’m at least able to take off.
