All EU,    and its better than the Drone tweaks version has you get all three radio bands.

We dont have the speed limit in the UK but the caveat is you have to fly full manual and with the FPV RC3.

Looks like the CE is version is actually better than the US version as we get three frequencies. Sadly though no manual channel selection,  but that doesnt bother me.

Yeah, I have just seen that on the MAD's TECH youtube channel

This had been a rollercoaster lmao. I've had the ham file on my goggles this whole time and best I've seen in manual mode is about 23m/s going down wind. So yeah, no wonder people are confused... I understand DJI can't comment publicly on this stuff, but it would be nice to know if it's really supposed to work this way or if it's just a bug that some people experience and some don't.

Of course I'll install the next update. I don't really care about manual performance, I can use any other FPV drone for that. But N/S modes with their stabilised camera pitch are what make Avata series unique and I wanna have the latest version of that

Still, if ham file works (even temporarily), I'd like to have that option even if I'm probably not gonna use it.

I am right in thinking that without this hack in the UK we reach 60mph (which I can confirm) but use CE so have range restricted to 10KM whereas in the EU it's a class 1 drone with speed restricted to 42.5mph and CE range limitation of 10KM. And in the US they have FCC with 13KM range and 60mph.

I see - so a stronger signal in UK/EU. I do find the Avata 2 signal to be quite weak when LOS is cut - even at short distances. Can be annoying. For a drone with a 10KM range I would not expect that at 300m.

Ok, here are some facts from (my own testing):

Its a bit meh for me, I cant say for sure if it really makes much difference with the A2.

I have tried the file with both models,  avata 1 and the avata 2. From my experience - The range isn’t anywhere near as good and neither is the penetration when compared to the avata 1 and 03.  It definitely works on the old model.

I flew both in the same direction and height (80-100m) I got 2000meters out before the Avata 2 ARTH kicked in.  Lets just say the Avata 1 with the same file got the same distance and had 3 signal bars left and almost 60mpbs bit rate.
Haven’t tried either drone without the ham file,  but if it really works on the A2 then I can only imagine how bad the range is without the file.  

Another fact, the video’s bit-rate & penetration isn’t as good as the A1 around tree’s and stuff. The amount of times the signal has dropped through a good treck in the woods and ruined a good video, all because of the fear of signal dropping out (which it will).

This is true. If the ham file really works with the A2 then I’d hate to see what its like without it.

this is "fixed" with the ham file.

tried it myself and was impressed by the range i got with a lot of stuff between me and the drone.
With the avata1 i almost lost video feed when a bush was in between me and the drone!!!!! (a a distance < 100m)

Yeah even with ham file on the avata 2 I have seen my signal drop out around 200m and this is in an open space. When you fly in the woods or around some tree’s the penetration is worse. It does improve once you’re like 20 meters or more off the ground which in the woods is impossible.

Avata 1 with 03 and ham file has way better range and penetration by a country mile at least from my experience.

How? The  US version is already in FCC and that would probably have all the channels unlocked already.  Thats (usually) how it works in the US (mini 3 pro, mini 4 pro are in FCC in US)

Yeah I've reach 2,000 feet away and not lost a single bar but as soon as anything obstructs line of sight the amber and red bars start to flag which is even more unnerving when you've learning to fly FPV in full manual. Guess I'll just have to set RTH to hover when flying in a woodland!

The CE version has three radio frequencies activated, with the ham file in the USA the EU extra frequency is not activated as it’s not legally available.

I wonder if you have a bad unit.  There are range tests out there that show avata 2 out flying the battery with and without the ham file.

It’s on 10km unobstructed.  Basically you’d need to sit on a hill top and fly out 10km to achieve that.    And you’re not getting back from that.   The range tests show the avata 2 with and without the file achieving the same distance before having to come home but without the ham file you’d loose some bars.

No my unit is fine. Im comparing it to the avata 1 with ham file.

2000m avata 2 with ham file is good enough for me

Depends what area range tests are carried out.

The ham file works but like I’ve already said its not an avata 1 for penetration and range. I know because I have personally tested both. Ham file works different to what it does with avata 1.

2000m is over 1mile. I have also seen much worse.
