hahaha yeah true, but i only use it to drop my line 300 meters from the beach. then i pull the big one out with the rod

I've used a down rigger from a boat so I guess a up rigger would work the same way.

it is not possible for me to cast 300 meters from the beach with my rod, but the drone drops the bait exactly where i want it. then it comes back and we wait for the fish

yes. soon as the craft reached the desired distance I stop the line unwinding from the spool of the cattrol. the clip opens as soon as force is applied to it. works great.

Got to tell you, that's one of the coolest ideas I've seen for this forum. Made me think of using the quad to carry a small line up into a tree. Tie that line to a heavier line, then heavier, etc, until I have one to pull the tree while I cut it. Love this forum.    I can't throw a line as far as this can carry it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Can you please show a picture of the phantom where you put the clip and what type of clip as i would love to do this and rig it and then wait for my big one with no boat

All I remember from Nigeria was palm oil chop - I'm sure food's changed a lot since then - oh and the delicious pawpaws

I have not made a video. but it is easy, from the picture i posted you can see the yellow insert between the landing gear i cut from a clothes hanger and shaped the ends to fit. plastic off coarse because it is also next to the compass. then from the center i hanged a washing line clip with a piece of fishing line. make sure the line goes through the two ears of the clip so they will open the clip if you pull on it

hehehe i am shopping at shoprite and most of the food i eat is therefore south african. the only Nigerian dishes i have enjoyed is pepper chicken with jolof rice and then pepper fish. very nice and hot

Reading this string really got me excited.  Looking to do just this but was wondering about how to make a clip that would work.  This looks good.  Question tho.  I am looking at 4-5 oz of lead, a bait and drag of 300 yards of 40# line.  Thinking this could add up to 2 pounds easily.  Think the 3 could handle that easily?

I use a 3 ounce weight. the bait is a further 6 ounces so total is about 10 ounces. the fishing line i use is 15lb and the p3p does not even know that it is carrying anything. because the phantom can be controlled 100% by the RC i make sure that i unwind the line and then move forward and unwind and move forward and so on until i see the distance is ok then i just pull on the line to open the clip.

Great idea, will go to holiday to Canary islands soon and will try it. Meanwhile i checked this equipment here on a meadow. Strange to see a man with fishing rod  and drone 4km from the nearest river
