Hi,
I updated my phantom 3 to the 1.4 release to try out all the new flight mode goodies. Unfortunately the blue button with the flight mode submenu is not appearing when I switch it into flight mode. Instead it says that it is in home-lock or course-lock mode and the space beside the gps-safe box is black. Everything has been updated (including all my batteries) and I have taken the drone off the ground to a height of 20 metres before changing to F mode. The multiple flight mode is enabled in the advanced menu (the IOC option is greyed out). I have connectivity of at least 18 satellites, normally 20. I have uninstalled and re-installed the app (running android on a galaxy tab 4) with no joy.

It does ask me when I first switch to flight mode that I agree with the conditions but nothing happens afterwards. On one occasion the blue box appeared (tantalisingly!) but after entering all the details, it said that multiple flight mode was not enabled.

I am honestly out of ideas and have gone through several other forum posts but to no avail. Does anyone know anything I could try?

Have you tried resetting the craft in options?

I have exactly the same symtoms as you. All the settings are right, downloads are up to date but no new flight modes. Android user also. very frustrating, as you are aware. Regards Murray.

Hey, if you mean did I select reset ioc in the advanced options then I cannot, it is greyed out. It is going into the ioc mode as it puts it in homelock or courselock but the menu to change modes does not appear.

at the top where the safe to fly bar is just left of that is the flight modes you can press that when in f mode then a window will pop up hope that helps

Hey Ryan,
it goes into IOC mode but the little blue box does not appear. I have tried pressing the area where it should appear without any luck. The initial menu that asks if I agree does pop up when I reinstall the app but nothing appears in the box afterwards.

Downgrade your firmware, make sure IOC is disabled (and never touch it again,) and reinstall 1.4.

Can you please post the log located at x:\misc\logs\
(x is the sd card drive letter)

You must have hidden files and folder enabled in your OS..

is there a guide to downgrade the firmware? Many of the threads say it is not possible.

Sure there is.  Just place v1.3.20 on a card, put it in, and let it run.  Once that is done, ensure that IOC isn't checked, and reinstall 1.4.0.  It'll fix the issue

However.....  Follow Bladestike's advice and post the logs he's suggested.  He may have a much easier way to fix it.

Ok, you're fully updated.. It has to be app side, please post the version of app you're running..

Also What version is the controlleron ? can you post a screen grab of the versions screen ?
Reset the craft settings in MC Setting Reset All Settings then In MC Settings, Advance Settings click Reset IOC inder the IOC slider

Okay now I think we are getting somewhere. The version on the RC and the phantom is different



The RC is still at 1.3.20. I tried updating the controller but it doesn't seem to see the update. I tried using a usb stick and connecting it directly to the phantom 3 but no joy. should the RC firmware be at 1.4?

Nope. Your RC firmware is where it should be.

V1.320 is correct for the RC, can you post the picture though

Also can you post a video of whats happening,

did you try the resets suggested ?

Apologies, the weather has been bad so I havent had  a chance to fly. I will try and make a video this afternoon. I will also try doing the MC reset as suggested.

So it was quite windy today but I decided to do a low test flight. I reset the IMU and every other option I could but I was still getting the same error. I could not reset the IOC as the option was selectable:


I took off again and when I flicked the switch and again it went straight to courselock/homelock:


But! Someone on another thread suggested, counter-intuitively, turning "enable multiple flight mode" to off. I tried this and when I took off and changed to F mode it asked me if I wanted to enable multiple flight mode, after which the blue menu appeared. It was too windy to test out the modes but at least they are there!

There very odd, i can't even change my IOC slider, did you get the menu with HL,CL and the others to appear then ?

It looks like a bug of some form, i wonder did you have that option on when you did the update, perhaps its confused the app.

See how your IOC is locked?  I don't know what causes that, but I have only seen it on Android.  And it has the same problems as yours.  I had hoped that the above fixes would help, but, I can tell you what will. Downgrade the firmware, reinstall 1.4.0 and it fixes it.

If turning multiflight mode off doesn't work then that is the next thing I will try. Do I just copy the previous firmware to the sd card to downgrade it?

Yep.  Copy it, install it, do 1.4.0 and you will be good to go.
