Hey folks,
Here is my first outing with the DJi Neo. Was an interesting morning getting to know the drone, its capabilities and its limitations.
While riding the bike I was constantly listening to see was it going to fly away, but it did a great job of tracking and following. As we know it is not a fast drone so in the in post production I sped up some of the clips by 1.2-1.4 to recreate more accurately the speed.
I was delighted with how it turned out and really enjoyed the process of trying to set up and visualize shots. CapCut is a remarkably user-friendly app, this is the first video I have ever put together so it will be my go to product from now on.
This location was quite windy so had to be very careful about how I flew the drone. The shot at the summit was simply done by holding the drone and pretending to fly! One thing I learnt is that it would be a brave soul to take the drone out without the phone or remote control. A couple of times it had to be guided down with the phone as it was just stuck hovering. I also found the return feature to my hand very hit and miss.
The video was edited on a Mac using CapCut. Some editing was done to colours but nothing crazy. 3 batteries were used. I would view this as a minimum requirement for any attempt at outdoor video making. I had the RCN3 with me but due to the wind didn't use it.
