After owning both a Pocket 2 and Pocket 3, I've come to realize that DJI has zero interest in improving their Osmo Pocket products after 1-2 firmware updates. It's absolutely pathetic. The Pocket 3 was released only a year ago and we haven't seen a firmware update since May 2024. They've already abadoned the product and it appears they've begun focusing on the Pocket 4 less than seven months after the Pocket 3's initial release. This is unacceptable, especiallty for a $500+ camera.
This idea of DJI noting customer's feedback on this forum and forwarding the suggestions to the development team is an absolute farce. Name me one single notable customer sugestion that was implemented in an existing product. There isn't a single one. Instead, they take these suggestions and implement them in the next release. DJI could easily roll out these simple tweaks/updates to improve the Pocket 3's experience, but they intentionally choose not to, so users are tempted to buy the next iteration.
Osmo Pocket
- Release Date: December 2018
- Last Firmware Update: April 2019 (v01.06.00.30)
- Product abandoned after four months
Osmo Pocket 2
- Release Date: November 2020
- Last Firmware Update: January 2021 (v01.03.00.10)
- Product abandoned after two months
Osmo Pocket 3
- Release Date: October 2023
- Last Firmware Update: May 2024 (v01.04.08.02)
- Product abandoned after seven months
As I said in the title, this is a terrible, greedy company. Customers need to demand more and stop giving DJI their hard-earned money for products until they start doing the bare minimum, which is supporting their existing products with continuous updates for at least one year post-release. This is not too much to ask.
