Does anyone know if there is a thermal camera that can be fitted to the Inspire 1 similar to the one that can be fitted to the Phantom 2?

no waiting already months for this

I get so many job requests for this.  It would be awesome if dji came out with one for the inspire

There is a thermal cam which you can fit on a Phantom, I suppose you could attach it to a Inspire as well.  

Considering the Inspire 1 has facility for a removable camera it would seem obvious that this would be the next step in development. Fire & Rescue Services in particular would be the first ones to take advantage.

The unit I use is a IC 9320 320x256 with a fly sight 2000mw tx and also use a range extender which gives me a range over 4 miles   The tx has a range of 5 km at 400 ft

I use the thermal to check on cows and wild hog locations

I several individuals and companies are experimenting with IR cameras on the Inspire.  I have only seen one that was able to access the Go App.

Why? Because mike asked if there was thermal cameras for the Inspire 1. How? All you need is some basic electrical knowledge and some soldering skills. The rest of it is pretty easy. Although the price on those thermal cameras are butt-hurting expensive. In some cases it's better to buy a complete quad already equipped with a thermal cam than to buy the pieces separately. But if you don't care and money is no issue here is a place to start.

The point is this is GoPro compatible stuff but the Inspire is NOT GoPro compatible so we cannot use all the accessories available for GoPro mount.

You are missing my point. The system I referred to is not suppose to be compatible with the Inspire 1 electronic board; it's a stand alone component that has it's own logic board and TX. You can basically mount it on anything you want, as long as the aircraft has enough power to lift it.

Yes there is some options.  Check out the DJI Dealer "Heliguy" website  in the UK.  They have a Thermal Camera Upgrade, however its priced at £5k in addition to the Inspire which in my opinion is ridiculous especially as its not a branded camera such as a Flir.

Flir have just brought out a small thermal for use on UAVs and connects with a GoPro type cable connection.  I have raised a questions with the DJI moderators if they can look at escalating a request for the DJI R&D to look at providing cable accessories that will allow the installation of a Flir camera.  Even better would be a gimbal to fix the camera onto so that it connected in the same way as the standard camera to the modular mounting system.
The Flir camera is priced around £1,000 for your information.
