Recorded in Ispra, a town overlooking Lake Maggiore in Italy, it shows the furnaces used until the mid-19th century for the manufacture of lime

Absolutely amazing footage.  Great choice in background music.  

Interesting to see how well the old furnaces have stood the test of time.  From what I read they were used to process lime.  Lime has many uses and not just in construction, but it has been used as a good disinfectant and in fertilizer for agriculture.  I've also seen it used in leather tanning and for the production of ceramics.

Lovely place and light. Those furnaces make a nice addition to the scenery.
