After I had seen the beautifully ruined Birnbeck Pier of Weston-super-Mare I knew I had to fly there and luckily I was able to squeeze it into my plans. Apparently it's the only pier that links the mainland to an island albeit a rather small one. It was built in 1867 and closed 1994. Until 2011 the lifeboat station was housed there. Wind was strong so the Mini struggled and the fpv had to tilt far to fly straight - more or less.
Next stop is Cheddar Gorge - exactly the same: After seeing a video of it I knew I had to fly there. The Mini struggled mightily in the strong wind but the fpv worked just fine. Maximum depth of the gorge is 139 m.

Small but interesting island.  That old bridge made for some nice FPV flying.  Amazing vistas throughout the gorge.  Nice choice in background music and great job on this video Depp.  

Sensational footage, Depp.  A crash onto the island at the end of the jetty might have meant another lost drone, so that was gutsy   Great views above the gorge.

Yes, that did damped my courage a bit - otherwise I might've flown a bit more through the support beams of the jetty. But the wind was something else!

I can imagine. Whenever l'm at the seaside, it seems l have to hold onto my hat

Thank you - a bit further "up" in the gorge there wasn't much traffic/tourists and I even walked up the slope of the north side (the one less steep) though that wasn't necessary. Not much to do with the Mini as it was so windy...

Good job you didn't get spotted,  the staff there don't like drones at all,     there was a period when people would go there and wind the staff up over flying.    Not helpful really.

I actually don't know,  but they really took offence to it,  and of course once that went a bit viral on YouTube loads of people went there to do the same.   I suspect the road is public and it's the car parks that are NT.  But don't forget they tell people that they own and control the airspace too.
