Smokestack Inspection

Very cool Charles, plus, you didn't have to be concerned about what was below you.
I hope the client didn't expect you to fly into the smokestack.

It is a very odd configuration. It's 5 or six buildings built at different times all put together.

No, just all four sides and topdown

Very interesting shot Charles.    That's quite the conglomeration of buildings all somewhat merged together around that smokestack.  Seems like that has to be breaking at least some building codes.  

I had to orbit the smokestack and map all four sides of ot from within the buildings. It was an interesting flight.

Nicely bright feature in the otherwise bland neighborhood

Now that to me seems like it's in a very strange place.       I assume you had to get a lot closer to inspect.  

We flew within thirty ft of the stack inside all of the structure. We took off from a building behind the drone in this shot.

125 ft smokestack on all sides. 3 shots on every 10 ft of elevation for 4 sides.

Yes vene though it looks a little tight there was planty of room to orbit around the stack as long as you don't mind the beeping.

They were checking all ove the buildings tere but they needed pictures showing the cracks on the top and sides to see how much renovation was needed.I would assume they will be patching  or rebuilding some of it. The engineers were very happy with thedetail in the photos.

When you get close to anything the drone beeps at you to let you know that there are buildings in any direction then you can seea chart of whats around you in orange or red depending on how close you are. I have mine set to stop at 3 feet from any obstacle.

I couldn't figure out how you weren't awar of the incessant beeping. Sometimes I have beeps and I can't figure out why, which is scary.

Im very nosey,  I think thats one reason I like the drones so much.  you see things you'd never see without one.

No doubt it's part of the attraction. It's funny that some of these third party jobs you never speak with the person who ordered the work so you really don't know the reason for the pictures. This drives me crazy because I want to know the goal of the shoot.
