I have a NAZA M v2 setup on my quadcopter, including the PMU.  I have a couple of flight-hours in so far.  The red wires on my ESCs are still intact.  Should I cut them?  Is it necessary, to protect the NAZA?  Thanks!

YES cut them all. I am surprised you have not burned anything up or had problems. The Naza PMU supplies all the power to run everything. If you need power to run accessories get a BEC and run it off the main power.
