Just to address the balance of the negative feeds on here, i wanted to share that today i had a perfect flight! The Phantom hovered at a dead standstill, ascended and decendant like it was on rails and stood stock still in the sky while i shot some pictures. This was over an Urban town with WIFI etc no doubt going on all over the place but still she was like a hovering Eagle up there!
I landed by kicking in the failsafe (i was feeling lazy!) and it came back and landed in the exact same spot it took off from.

Boring i know, but these devices get a bashing on here and sometimes they jst dont deserve it!

Just be cautious when descending from altitude, move sideways or forward when you come down and not straight down to avoid the dreaded VORTEX.

He used the failsafe landing routine which is a very gentle descent.

Nice job MH.  I'm grounded due to weather (rain)   At least the Cowboys are kicking the Redskins around.

Great Photos. Thank you for posting. I also had a great flight today. Total flight time, 19 minutes and 38 seconds. No problem with any satellite connection or with Wi-Fi connection. Just another great flight.

It deliberately decends slower than it rises to avoid this problem.

But we still hear of this problem, and most admit they were coming straight down.

Correct, even with the default slow descent, if conditions are right (little to no wind) then it is still possible to get into a VRS state and unless you are very high it is nearly impossible to get out of.  If you recognize it and have sufficient altitude you can get out with hard flight controls (left, right, forward, back) but even that it a maybe.
