What is your max flight distance?

I read and hear about all of these fly away, firm wear issues ect.

8 minutes out of the box I was 12,000+ feet away, lucky or crazy......

Lucky,  you really should gain your confidence and familiarity with  your Phantom before taking it out that far.  I have no problem with the distance but if something went wrong
you may have not known what to do.  Always know orientation of your craft as well, I had an I pad go out on me and lucky I knew my orientation before hand as I was 3k feet away.
I personally have been out 10,000 feet .  I owned my drone for 3 months before I was ready to take it out that far.  I have also been flying RC aircraft and helicopters for 25 years.
