[size=14.6667px]Just received my P3P & have some questions.  Reading so much about fly aways, loosing power, batteries, etc... I am new to DJI & have concerns, want to ensure that this bird stays in the air. I wanted to upgrade so that's why I purchased the P3P. At present I own a Blade Chroma, have over 100hrs in the air without one issue. Right out of the box it was airworthy & has performed flawlessly. This is my 2nd P3P, the first one had issues & had to be returned. With that said here are my questions I hope to get some answers.

[size=14.6667px]1. Do I have to update to v1.6 or can I fly it as is?
[size=14.6667px]2. If I do the update to v1.6 does the battery automatically update as well? If not how do I do that?
[size=14.6667px]3. I purchased a 2nd battery, will it update automatically once installed with the newly updated firmware on my
[size=14.6667px]    P3P?
[size=14.6667px]4. If I don't do the firmware update does the 2nd battery update to the firmware that was originally installed or
[size=14.6667px]    is there something I need to do?
[size=14.6667px]5. I have a Nvidia Shield for my tablet & it is a bit heavy (Wobbly) mounted on the controller, has
[size=14.6667px]    anyone figured out how to secure their tablets better?

[size=14.6667px]Looking forward to hearing your comments, thanks...jp

1. Do I have to update to v1.6 or can I fly it as is?
You may fly as is. You currently have control of updates...
2. If I do the update to v1.6 does the battery automatically update as well? If not how do I do that?
The firmware includes modules for multiple components and only updates those components that need updating. So when you first update the aircraft, the battery installed also gets updated. To update additional batteries, just power down, swap a new battery and re-run the update. Only the newly inserted battery will need update and its firmware will be updated (the center two LEDs on the battery will flash while updating as a visual clue - and it will run quickly compared to the whole aircraft update.)
3. I purchased a 2nd battery, will it update automatically once installed with the newly updated firmware on my P3P?
No, the GO App will tell you that the battery needs updating. Grab an SD Card, put the bin file back on it, and simply update the new battery, just like your additional batteries.
4. If I don't do the firmware update does the 2nd battery update to the firmware that was originally installed or is there something I need to do?
Not sure about this question.... Updates are a deliberate user push process. You're in charge... So a battery won't update any other firmware. The bin file updates firmware. Even with the current RC, your mobile device downloads the "bin" file and pushes it to the RC... Ask again if this doesn't address your question...
5. I have a Nvidia Shield for my tablet & it is a bit heavy (Wobbly) mounted on the controller, has anyone figured out how to secure their tablets better?
I have an Air2 and one of the first things I did was to purchase an Inspire METAL device mount. The metal bracket is solid as a rock and available via the DJI Store. And they are interchangeable.
Just looked for link to Inspire mount and it's not offered currently on the DJI Store, but is available here:

Thanks for your response, greatly appreciated.  As for question #4 that you weren't sure if you answered correctly,  let me see if I can clarify better or rephrase so we are on the same page cause now I'm a little confused.

If I decide not to do the v1.6 update I assume the battery that came with the P3P is fine & no updates are needed for that battery because it came paired/synced with the P3P (correct me if I'm wrong).  But what about the extra battery I purchased? Will I need to do anything to it or just insert battery & fly? How do I know what update that 2nd battery has?  You said if I do the v1.6 update the battery will automatically be updated but will need to rerun the update again with the 2nd battery in place to update it. How do I pair/sync the 2nd battery with the P3P if I do not do the v1.6 update?

Ok,
The cool thing is that the DJI GO App will tell you what needs to be done and that will depend on the firmware that is installed on the second battery... Let's say you find a real deal for $125 battery. You pop it into your P3, and the GO App is happy and doesn't alert you. Then go fly... But if the GO App yells that the battery needs update. Then you know that the battery has been sitting on the shelf for a while and has old firmware. You put your SD card with your firmware version (01.05.0030 since you didn't update to 01.06.0040) and the battery gets updated... Easy...

Here's the thing about battery firmware... There's only been three versions for the P3P/A.... It was updated at 01.03.0020 and now most recently with 01.06.0040. So batteries have been pretty stable, firmware wise.

Thanks for the info. I thought I answered this post but looks like I didn't, I apologize. I was not aware that the GO App lets you know, I have been sitting on this spare battery & haven't used it yet until I received a clear answer, I've also been to busy working lately to do much of anything else. Thanks for the info.
