how many people try and fly their new quad without reading the manual first.  It is obvious from a lot of the topics that people are ignoring the manual before they fly.  For example, if a person posts the question: Can someone explain the switches on my remote? (a real post by the way) isn't it obvious they have not read the manual?

Before you post your question, try reading the manual first.  If that is beyond the realm of possibility, try searching the forum for the question you want to ask as chances are someone has already asked it.

After owning a drone/quadcopter I am amazed at how many television shows use them for their far aways shots.  If you look at the credits at the end of the show you will see references to drones/quadcopters and the like.  Before I had a copter I use to think alot of those shots were from helicopters, trees or crains but now I see differently.

It would help if they can with an owners manual.  Mine came with a 1/4 page fold out, not much on it.

I finally found and downloaded the manual, leaves more questions than answers........

I think many of the recent crash posts are due to Christmas drone operator error. Just pull it out of the box, power it up, push a few joysticks and away you go! DJI makes it seem easy to fly.  People don't realize that this is a sophisticated piece of technology. There is a lot multitasking that occurs if you are going to fly safely and responsibly. You need to be aware of compass mods, battery levels, flight time, speed, altitude, aircraft orientation once airborne, RTH height, etc. And that is before you even touch the camera. How can you know about any of this if you just pull it out of the box?

Instead of DJI screwing everyone over with bogus no fly zones (one near me is in the middle of a National Forest) they should build a one time tutorial and quiz into the app that you can't just blow through before you fly for the first time.  Instead they focus on covering their ass and selling as many of these things that they can before the competition catches up.

Very nice suggestion !  It's really essential to read the user manual before your flight !

I agree many of the crashes probably due to impatient pilots

I always download any pertinent info, manuals, spec sheets and revues, even helpful informative videos.
That's for any prospective new RC model, wood working tool or electrical/digital device and see what it entails, includes and precludes. ;-)
Why be left holding the drone, or your tool and have no clue about which forum to ask for help, assistance and what-how-why it happened. Ha

People that fly out of the box and crash, really have only themselves to blame.

Perhaps the instructions on each container should begin by saying:
"Only flies out of the box, when lid first removed from under your hat, and Owner operator manuals inserted."

RTFM or FO? Read the Flight Manual or Flight Off. Hahaha
You know the routine.

Unfortunately it is not an uncommon problem. What has happened in recent years is that very tasty tech has been created in lots of items and often items that are not easy to use well, and at very low, affordable prices. As a result, people with little sense can easily purchase these items and then destroy or damage them because they are basically too stupid to take the time to understand what they have bought.

The very next thing they do is find a forum dealing with the product then go to the forum and complain bitterly about how it is the fault of the manufacturer of the product that is at fault, never them.

Before I even had my P3A I had already did research on it, downloaded the manual and was on this forum and asked a few questions. Even after that I still had some questions that either was not in the manual or hard to understand. Even searching on this forum brought a "0" response. Forum search engines are a hit and miss sometimes. If you don't exactly word your search right, you'll never get a hit but instead get 300 other posts that have the one of the same words.

Just forbid new users to read the manual.  They will then read it out of spite.  Or put some porn in the manual.  Hard to find that stuff anywhere.  People would be sure to read it then.
