Hi!

I am new here and is quite lost. I am intrested to buy an Phantom 3 standard or advanced but i dont know if i really need an advanced.
And another question mark is, how good is the camera. i know it says 2,7 k and so on. but good 1080 is better for me. So if i will for example film
me driving in a car on the ice. will the standard hold up to my expectations? Cause i dont want to buy one and feel like i missed out not buying the advanced. So is there a big difference?

I had a gopro hero 3 black, So comparisson to that. How good are these cameras? And does the advanced live up to the 300 more euros?

best regards

Get the Advanced if you can afford it.  Just for the range.

Since the Advanced is now the same price the Standard was,  you should go for the Advanced.  2 gps,  longer range, indoor flight.   Especially the longer range.  Believe me, you will be wanting that soon enough.

Advanced for all the features explained above. Plus, the remote is more fully functional. You can do a lot without having to use the touch screen.

2.7 K is higher res than 1080p.   The advanced also lets you "film" in 1080p I believe.   Look it up in the specs.   The Advanced has a greater FPV range .
So it really boils down to how much you want to spend, weighed against superior range .  The Advanced has much greater FPV, but if that doesn't matter the standard should suffice.

Is it just me being delusional or is all fotage taken by both advanced and standard quite bad?

at 0:30 the trees get dizzie and the overall view doesnt look to nice. Is my standards to high for todays drones? or maybe dji should focus getting 1080 good before jumping to 4 k or 2,7 k?  Been filming with a sony rx10 and go pro 3 black before. Hmmmm

I can't see any change at 0;30, but I'm only watching on my 13" MacBook Pro.  And it is a heavily compressed video coming from Youtube.

Compare the specs, I honestly think you get a lot more for your money with the Advanced. You may be ok with the Standard BUT if you want something a little better in the future you'll already have it in the Advanced if you get that from the start. The Lightbridge alone is worth the difference. Plus you get way more features on the Advanced remote. (Video/Photo buttons) Play button, two programmable buttons on the rear.
You get the Vision Positioning System9 Which is awesome)
GPS+GLOMASS
removable lens cover so you can use a huge variety of screw on filters.

I was initially going to only buy the standard.  I don't need 4k.  Not for what i do or will do with it any time soon.

However, with the current sale putting the advanced at the price the standard used to go for, I couldn't resist.
1. Lightbridge provides a much greater distance for video FPV.
While I will be mainly flying by LOS (the way I have flown RC from the get go).  But, with the FPV option there, it extends your ability to "feel" the experience than just watching it from the ground.  With lightbridge that ability is extended further than with WiFi

2. Higher quality remote with additional fieatures.
This along with #1 is worth it for me.  For you?  Well thats your decision.  For me, having easier access to common functions directly on the controller is worth it.  This alleviates the non-tactile issues with a touch screen device like tablets.  You simply can't FEEL where you are touching or if you just hit the record button or the download porn button without LOOKING at the screen.  If you are looking at the screen you are not looking at your copter.  Its like taking your eyes off the road to find the buttons on your radio touch screen.  Bad things happen when you aren't watching!

3. Multiple satellite system ability.
Not only does it see GPS (US) it also sees GLONASS (USSR) sats.  More the merrier and more accurate.

4. Sonar/Visual positioning system.
This gives it a reference for holding station indoors or in areas where GPS may be non-existent or sketchy.  While this isn't a great concern for me initially, it may well be in the future.  Having it onboard from the get go may well pay off later.

5. Removable filter ring.
Ok, seems silly to have this as an option.  But it is.  There are products to get around this by slipping filters on over the base UV.  But its still an advantage.  However, their entire filter system is, to be blunt, stupid.  There is NO reason they could not have adopted a standard filter ring system so that any photographic filter could be used on the camera by simply screwing it on.  This is already the standard for DSLR and virtually all pro and consumer level video cameras.  The female threads are on the camera, male on the filter.  Its been this way for decades.  But not on the Phantom. Its backwards.  The filter is a cap, the lens has the male threads.  Thank goodness I have a 3D printer to correct this silliness.

6.  Advanced has silver decals.
Means you  are way more jiggy than the ones with red decals.  (J/K)

If you like fpv please get the advance , im having a headache with the standard really low range for this type of quad , so please get the advance,  and advice from an standard ownder

here is some differences
Range , the standard use WIFI if you are outside of USA you get 500 meters or less of range (i get 100 meters in the city ), with the advance it use light bridge you get more than a Mile every where
Controller : basically more buttons  and also you can add a HDMI module  on the adv  , in the standard you wifi and the same thing of range that i mentioned before
Camera : better lens  on the advance  and better hardware it use a sony lens witch is better , the standard use panasonic lens amazing camera but less quality hardware
Motors :   i dont know if it have better performance but in the adv it looks powerful ,
Vision potion , advanced yes ,  Standard No this is for position holding without GPS or indoors
glonass :  advanced yes ,  Standard No  better position holding in the adv  but to be honest it works when you are flying around buildings , i own the standard and it has an amazing gps position holding so i think that there is not much difference
support : there is more support for the adv and pro
Hardware : better hardware inside , if you crash and broke your gimbal you can buy a 4k camera and use it  in the adv ,  the standard use a different hardware and you cant upgrade anything
Fly time : standard 25 min  , adv 23 min

that are basically all the differences

In my opinion you should go for the professional, it's not that more money and everybody I know always wishes they got the professional. Just my two cents

I have the Standard and although its great, if you are the type of person who likes to push limits and reach farther ranges, which will definitely happen, get the Advanced. Otherwise, unless you really need 1080P at 60FPS get the Standard.

It's actually the Sensors that are made by Sony/Panasonic, not the lenses. I'm not sure if the the lenses are different or the same, but the sensors are defiantly different (although same size).

Another couple differences, the standard does not appear to have .dng capability, and only supports apple phones (according to DJI product specs, I don't own an standard).

Between the above two things, and the better controller I went with the advanced over the standard.
As for the overal quality, it's entirely subjective but you do have to remember the DJI phantoms are small sensored consumer devices, they are not going to give you DSLR or cinema quailty video/photos. You can get this, but only with much mroe expensive drones, starting with something like an inspire, and going up to $10k+ drones able to lift fullframe DSLR's etc.

Yep.... I agree with this. I have an inspire 1 and P3 advanced...... Not much use for 4K right now.... The advanced is an awesome bird. $1250.00  for the Pro to and 800.00 for the Advanced = 450.00 savings a 100 watt charger = 60.00 on eBay so you can get that and  3 extra batteries @ 125 a piece for the price of the pro.
