I cannot get my drone to update.  I have formatted my SD drive. Then I put the SD drive in my apple computer and downloaded the 1.6.0040.  I unzipped the download and put the .bin file in the SD card. Next, I put the SD card in my drone Phantom 3 professional and turned it on.  It beeped  2 or 3 times but never any more. I have even tried to go to a 1.3.20 but it did not work either.  

I am at a loss.

thanks, My drone will not update but I do not see a 1.1.9.  I did not have any choice to use FAT 32 and I dont know what to do to get to FAT 32. I just used my DJI GO app and used the format in the app.

Please check your current firmwares via DJI Go App . If the aircraft firmware version is 1.5 or 1.6 , it will not go back to version 1.3 .

ok. I was told to use 1.3. by DJI rep. I have 1.5 in it now. or rather it came with that.

There is no newbie/beginner forum. Is the Phantom, you are dealing with new? As in, you only recently received it.
Let's begin with, Are you able to check in the Go app, which is the current firmware version your drone had in it already?
It may be, that your drone has been updated, on the factory floor, and doesn't need to be updated.
Please check to see which three firmwares your App, Aircraft and RC/radio controller. All 3 are listed under About.
If up to date, they would read:
App - 2.5.1

Aircraft -1.6.40

RC - 1.5.70

I will double check. I think it is 1.6 on the aircraft.  I got it for Christmas.  I have owned two Dji phantoms before this Phantom 3 professional.

If need be, You should be able to update the radio controller from the app itself.

Yes, please always check for current firmware versions, on any new craft particularly, before attempting an update procedure...

Just like checking battery voltage, before heading out to fly. Always, Top up them intelligent flight batteries, to 100% charge, before taking off.

thanks for the advice. It did take the 1.3. Now I am going to update to 1.5 and them 1.6 hopefully. Something was wrong with he updates in my drone and I had to start over. Plus the directions that DJI GIVES SEEMS TO BE MORE OF A GUIDELINE THAN ACTUAL FACTS.

Good, now you can bring it up to speed, and be on the most current firmware.

Yes, instructional directions from other lands and different languages can sometimes be difficult to comprehend.
And are often interpreted slightly different than the original composer, had meant them to be to explained.

Especially if the writer has short handed, so those specific areas, can sometime be unfamiliar to us, and confused with.

Thankfully there are those here with plenty of previous experience, in piloting skills and also drone specific maintenance.
Just request help, and someone will be along shortly,  to help guide and assist you, through the difficulty. ;-)
