The FAA wants monthly reports which include latitude and longitude for the locations we fly from those of us with our 333 and COA.  Does anyone know how to find the Phantom 3 log files and extract the latitude and longitude for specific flights?

Just go to Google Earth and get it from there.
You can also get GPS coordinates from the Exif data that is part of every jpg photo you take with the Phantom.

If u use a Phantom3 ? or what drohne u use?

As u are writing in the phantom3 Forum i am going to explain for that one here.

As u are flying the mobile device (DJI go-App) creates a FlightLog.

u have to connect ur mobile device to your PC and go to the internal storage.

Folder DJI---> Folder DJIPilot--->Folder FlightRecord---->DJIFlightRecord_2016-01-21_[09-43-47].txt

ít should look like this.

copy this to our PC.

https://healthydrones.com/main?a=upload
upload the Txt to this link and download a CSV which u can open in Excel.

the first to Collums should be latitude and longitude, then the height.

the second Option is to copy the .dat-File from the internal storage of ur Phantom, which is used by DJI in case u Crash and want a refund. I know some guys who made the effort to decoad this file for the most important stuff. u get the more detailed Information this way.

First u have to connect ur Phantom3 with his own USB port (under the rubber sealing on the front) to ur PC. then turn on ur Tablet and Controller and enter flight data mode. (MC-Settings---> advanced Settings---> enter flight data mode--->press ok---> Phantom should start beeping)

Now open the SD Card and Transfer the .datFiles (Note this could take some time, the SD Card is very slow)

https://www.mapsmadeeasy.com/log_viewer

go to this webside and submit ur *dat-File.

download CSV first two Collums again should be latitude and longitude. Dont worry if the First rows are empty there. The GPS in the Phantom Needs some time to start up and record positions.

NOTE:

be Aware that These 2 CV´s are not perfectly Fitting into Excel. After downloading them Change the ending *CSV into *TXT. Open ur Excel and Import those. Watch out for commas and TAbs.

the Dat should look like this if correctly done

and the txt should look like this if correctly done
