I want to ask you if the sharpness and the quality of these DNG's are in line with the advertised one. I'm using a Phantom 3 Advanced.

I've set ISO to 100 and even with a fast shutter speed, the quality doesn't impress me.

I know the photos uploaded e.g. on SkyPixel are retouched and so on, but the sharpness, even after processing the DNG's in Lightroom, seems not as high as the other ones. So the videos, not so sharp as expected.

Am I wrong?

The sharpness in a DNG file is the product of the quality of the captured image & your processing in Lightroom, so it could just be your develop settings.

Take a photo in RAW + JPG.   If you're happy with the JPG as it is, see if you can match the DNG quality with the JPG file in Lightroom.

Actually pretty good.  Nice pic.  As nigel2 states, this is an undeveloped picture.  You need to tweak it a bit to bring out the best in the picture.  This is by design.  DNGs (and any other raw format) captures as much data as possible from the sensor and then leaves it there for you to play with.  In particular, they have a flat contrast curve so they always look dull.  Always.

The .JPG files are processed by the cameras tiny little brain with guidelines set down by the camera's programmers.  Which are 'OK' but hardly ever ideal.

You need to come up to speed with some program to manipulate DNGs.  There are dozens.

Also, you may need to adjust your expectations.  If you are expecting DLSR capability, be prepared to be unimpressed.  This camera is pretty good for it's price (and the fact that it's hovering several hundred feet in the air).  But it costs less than most of my Nikon lenses.  That's just the lenses.

But I doubt I could get my D800 and 70-200 lenses at that viewpoint short of renting a helicopter.  And helicopter rental costs more than the entire Phantom.

You're right, maybe I have to practice with some photo editing tools...I was afraid (after watching a lot of beautiful photos and videos posted on many sites), to have a defective camera.

The same applies to the video, I guess? You think the clip I've uploaded has nothing to regret?

Do you know some good tutorials to follow (photo and/or video editing)? Or have you some tips/advice to obtain a very good photo (raw) during the fly? Settings, filters, anything else?

Yo can get Lightroom. For 130 euro you get all the power of photo editing. You can create hdr, pano etc.

I noticed that they've closed the other thread (My P3A take really bad pictures and video for what is advertised ...).
As promised, I'm here to tell you about the repair I've requested.

29/02/2016 : I consign the drone to the carrier
today: the drone came back. My girlfriend opened the box (I'm at work now), and sent me some photos. I've noticed that the serial number of the gimbal/camera did not change and on the repair report they reported:

Item:
gimble body
Detection result:
Hardware BUG
Replace with:
"" <- blank, field empty

I wrote 1h ago to the support back, to ask them some more info about the repair and what have them done.

Now, maybe this saturday, I'll test the drone myself and I'll update you with more infos.

This is the answer from the support:

"Dear Giorgio,

Thank you for your email. I have talked to the Technic who has repaired your drone. The gimbal has been changed, only the serial number hasn't."

What I don't understand is how they replaced the gimbal if the sticker with the Serial Number is the same?

Anyway, tomorrow I'll try to shoot some photos, hoping the problem has been solved.

I only looked at one image.  It was a jpg, because I don't want to download a dwg and then pull up a program to convert it to a readable image.  The jpg I looked at looked fine to me, for an untouched jpg.  Remember, this is only a 12MP camera!
