For discharge cycle just turn on the motors on the ground and let the battery discharge to about 8%,  then just go and fully charge it.

What is the life of the motors? Flying and separately running them to discharge seems like a lot of motor work?

I bought this on eBay.  Works perfectly.  Press the micro switch once for discharge to 50% for storage.
Press twice for discharge to 5% for cycling.  Specify for Inspire 1 when ordering.  Bulb gets really hot when using, so keep it away from flammables.

I mean of course nobody is going to keep the motors turning on the ground from 100% to 8%
It's better to fly till 15% left then continue the discharge process on the ground

That is how I have done it for years Tim. Works fine. No battery issues at all.

Yep ! After running my tb47 to 5% and recharging it I got a message that said bad cell, this was also after the  battery management firmware upgrade a while back telling me to do so ! And one cell is reading lower than the rest... It was not damaged until I did the run it down thing to 5% which I thought sounded way to low.. I've got several other not smart battery's for rc planes and an early phantom and never had this problem in several years of use.. Smart battery has been over smartened if you ask me.
