This happening to anyone else? No? Cool. Cool.
Just updated to v1.6 right before the X5 came in the mail.
Is this the DJI version of bricking a device?

I experienced the exact same thing right down to the camera going limp. My go to guy told me the "Beep of death" as you called it was the result of an incomplete firmware install. However, we could not remedy the situation by phone. The drone is now on the way to his shop so we shall see. As soon as I hear back from him I will let you know.
Pehaps someone from the forum can advise?

Thanks for the response.
I tried to update the firmware, and it beeped like this for 2 hours.
Just trying to learn if this duration is normal.

You installed the 1.3 firmware from the Pro page correct.
http://www.dji.com/product/inspire-1-pro-and-raw/info#downloads

Can you reformat the SD card and download the zip file to you computer, open it and only transfer the BIN file to the SD card.
Put it in the aircraft and power only the aircraft up and see if it will update.
After about 30 seconds of making beeps and the gimbal dancing all around you should get 4 beeps DDDD,DDDD,DDDD and it may be like that for up to 25 minutes and the firmware is complete when the beeps go to 3 beeps D-DD,D-DD and that means it was successful.
If that sequence does not happen, power off the aircraft and put the SD card into your computer and post the hidden log file so I can read it.
If you don't know how to do that, here are instructions.

Already flew that little bastard around the neighborhood.
While the RC still doesn't want to update it's firmware. I'll wait until it gives me the beeps of death again to fix that problem.

Glad you go it going.
If your RC didn't have 1.3 or above then you need to install 1.3 from the Inspire page (NOT PRO) and use a USB adapter to update it. PDF instructions are in the zip file.
