is there a way to change the speed in which the drone returns to home. it seems a little bit slow returning.

About the only thing you can do is if you can regain control on the RTH and then you can speed it up.

RTH is a slow driver and cruises home at 10 m/sec but you can drive at 15 m/sec.
You can cancel and take control or push the right stick forward.
