New to the scene, don't dig your props in too hard.

A little frustrated here... I'm on night two of trying to debug this P3P. I would most enjoy some useful input.

I bought this used on eBay, with said 2-3 hours of safe fly time I believe it's an early model.

Remote: Model #GL300A Craft: Model #W232

Out of the box, on MY 1st startup there has been a red NO SIGNAL banner,  with no video feed to the iPhone 6.
The craft would not respond to the RC , and would make a continuous noise after warmup, until I would shut it off

I believe it had 1.3 FW or earlier version when it arrived.

I struggled getting the Firmware updated..., after several attempts ,none with any sort of similar success that I've seen online.
However , the app says I'm running current FW, 1.6 on Craft, & 1.5 on Remote.

After the FW updates , it can fly !!! Yet the FPV feed is still NO SIGNAL. The camera will take photos & video, which I can only view from the SD card.

I have tried multiple "fixes". Turned everything on & off a 100 times by now. Nothing has made a difference.
Reset RC , Re loaded 1.5 FW
SD card Removed (Haven't tried a NEW card)
Removed DJI GO APP, & re-installed
Happy Dance
Played with some camera settings
Thrown items across the room...(Not DJI Items...yet)

I'm at the point of trying a HARD RESET on the craft itself.

So a few questions/options:
Do I have any sort of service option with DJI for a free repair ???
Should I try and return to eBay seller, for a not 100% operational unit???
Try the Hard Reset on the craft???

About the only thing in there you do not appear to have tried is to replace the Lightning cable between the RC unit and the iPhone.

I am sorry to hear all these. I know exactly how it feels. I bought mine brand new. It doesnt come up with this error all the time, just some times. And i tried with multiple different phones, tablets etc. Dji wont help, they dont even help the clients that bought it new from their store, let alone someone from ebay. Plus , they shafted with custom clearance as well, although it stated on their website that its all paid for.

DJI, in my opinion, biggest disappointment ever. I will try to file a formal complaint against them with the international trading association. But i am sure my money are lost. Thieves. Thats all they are.

Try another lead and another mobile device.

Open up a dispute on ebay/paypal as well - maybe you can return it and get your money back.

    Looks like you've performed all of the steps necessary to troubleshoot this issue, so I feel your frustrations. Do you perhaps still have the SD Card that you performed your v1.6.40 upgrade?  The reason I ask, is to confirm that all the P3 components were in fact upgraded. As background, there's a text file summary called P3X_FW_RESULT_AB.txt left on the SD Card after an update. There's also a detailed component upgrade summary that's written to a hidden MISC folder on the SD Card. There have been upgraded P3 that will not find and upgrade some components and it's a good idea to check the initial summary file, P3X_FW_RESULT_AB.txt, and if things aren't working, also check that all subcomponents were in fact upgraded. If you still have the upgrade SD Card, the procedure to get to to the detailed summary is to first take the SD Card to a MAC or Windows computer and "show hidden files and folders". MAC Howto or Windows Howto show hidden files and folders (if needed)... Navigate into MISC/LOG and open the P3X_FW_dLOG_AB.txt file. This will probably be a pretty long file since it's an early version P3. You want to first look for any BAD entries where a "device not detected" was recorded.  A ba entry will look similar this:

I guess I forgot to mention that I have tried 2 different Apple lightning cables .

As far as the SD card goes. I had tried 1.3 FW and the generated txt file would say "failed" .
Then I tried something different and had 1.4 & 1.6 on the card at the same time , put this into the craft, and thats when the craft started to work with the RC. I Read some more info , that having more than one file is not right so I formatted the SD with my MAC.  Put the latest FW .bin on the card and I believe the craft accepted it, granted it didn't to the usual 15 min upload procedure that I have seen on YouTube.  After this I can't for sure remember , at some point I formatted the card with the app, put 1.6 back on, I think thats were I'm at.
Currently :
The SD has 1.6 . When I put it in the craft & start up, it starts up normally, and there are NO generated TXT files anymore. I tried to look up the hidden files yesterday on my mac.  The DCIM folder is the only one that allows me to click on it , It only has photos/ video.
All the other folders visually look like ghost folders, I have to right click - open in new window, then they open.

Opened MISC then LOG & theres Nothing in it.

Side note: I noticed that the gold stickers that are on the front of the craft that wrap over the body, are peeling up... Maybe someone has torn into this thing before???

To be honest, While I think you could probably figure out the problem eventually, Unless it was a crazy deal, I would send it back, especially if you suspect it's been opened and have recourse.   I doubt if this would be covered free by DJI, if it is a used item purchased off ebay.   Prices are dropping on new ones, and you'll have the peace of mind of knowing it hasn't been tampered with and then would be covered by a DJI warranty.

Agree with you and others. It was NOT well maintained and was definitely not in flight-worthy condition. Considering it only had 2-3 hours, the original owner may have "bricked" it and was looking to pass the issue off rather than deal with repair.
Hope ebay assists with its return and you get your money back.

Personally I would never buy an expensive complicated device like a DJI Phantom 3 on Ebay - it's not worth any savings you got if something goes wrong. I really hope you can get your money back.

Deals can be had on ebay,  but to your point, I would only buy one described as new in sealed box, that way any paypal dispute will definitely end in your favor should it not be as described.  I tend to lean towards the ebay stores of large retailers.  BuyDig,  and Adorama,  frequently have NIB phantoms for sweet deals on their ebay store.

I figured something with low hours on it, that looked in good condition was worth going for. Either way whats done is done.  Ive been in contact with the eBay seller and we have both agreed to see what DJI says about the situation.
I have been in contact with DJI. It took about 24 hours for a reply. They suggested backdating firmware, which I've already tried.  Currently awaiting a call tag to send it off to DJI for inspection.

He claims it worked fine, and it's been packed up in a closet for the last 5-6 month's .
I will be sending the the craft to DJI, hopefully tomorrow.

Hi Guys, maybe my history can help you!
I have phantom 3 pro.
I had the same problem, inexplicably stopped to work just the video link and in top of panel the mensagem "No Sign" in red ! so I thought was because I didn't the firmware actualization since june 2015 when I bought, along with fear to having problems related in phantom pilots forum, but was forced to do.
I tried to do directly to last version (v1.6.0040), I had success in RC, battery and Ipad Air 2, but was fail in aircraft, so I retry uncountable times without success, and the problem "No sign" no was solved like every reports that I read.
So accidentally, I made a different procedure that was recommended by DJI, the firmware was complete successfully and solved the problem miraculously.

What was this procedure?

Passed some days disappointed, I turn on my P3P to try again, so first RC, 2th Ipad and 3th aircraft, but I forgot that in MicroSD card still recorded the last firmware (v1.6.0040) and even with RC turned on, started the actualization routine, after some minutes, was complete the actualization and solve the problem!

Are you already tried to it?

Alright so it took about 3 weeks , I have the little quadchop back in my hands..... And..., IT WORKS! Whoooo!!!!

According to DJI the USB port on the RC was no bueno , they replaced the RC , I updated the firmware to the latest 1.07 & it all seems to be working great so far. I'm still getting my feet wet , did a pretty decent practice flight today with some 10-15mph wind. No problems :-)

I would like to note. Dealing with DJI initially was frustrating. I first tried taking care of the claim online, but the delayed response time (3-4 days) was taking to long. I ended up making a phone call to DJI , this got the ball rolling the quickest, they sent me a shipping label. During the process DJI had good communication via email, that filled me in on what was happening.  It took about 2 weeks to completion

I appreciate everyones comments and help , I cant wait to fly it again.
