I noticed just how smooth the gimble is almost to the point where certain shots i can get with out even putting the bird in the air, my question is has anybody used thier phantom by getting shots just by walking with it, and is there a device to put around it like a handle or something?

Osmo would be better for this purposes... The local length of phantom would be too long for the clos ...
The Osmo is much more practical to handhold but the focal length of the cameras is both the same at 20mm (35mm equivalent). They both give a wide FOV of 94 degrees.
In answer to the OP's original question, yes you can use the phantom as a hand-held gimbal. Its not particularly practical as its not designed for this but it will certainly work, It can be very useful if you want to get a very low to the ground shot and don't want to risk clipping the ground. I even made a video about it, the section with hand-holding the Phantom is at 4:50
I did a couple of times, it worked really well and the shot was better than the steadicam from the camera crew.
You MUST have someone with the remote looking because sometimes the camera jumps a little when doing lateral shots, forward or backwards shots doesn't have this issue.
Anytime I need a shot below 7 feet I hold my P3P and run the scene. I am in the process of making another YouTube mini movie and half of the scenes I shoot are hand held.
I was considering using the Osmo for my work, but I already had a GoPro H4 that was not getting enough use, so I simply bought a low cost Chinese hand-held gimbal unit.
Sure I have done that a lot. Flying and then combining with walking with the drone makes a nice video! No one can really tell you didn´t actually fly those indoor shots or under the bridge
I gave one of the engineers a head mounted GoPro, all of the sound is from it. Trickiest part was building the whistle sound, a combination of 3 different whistle blows.
My buddy has a P3 Pro and an Osmo but he made a carrying handle for his P3 to use it as a steadicam just to test it out.
I don't know how it worked out for him.
