Hi there I have a phantom3 standard, Is it possible to go further than 500m in distance? Is there away to override it?

Do you mean altitude or long range distance if you are talking distance than yes go into app and look for the setting in the app cant remember where but someone else will chime in and tell you where it is in the app and set your distance to whatever you want if your talking altitude i believe 500 meters is it.

Go in the app settings and unselect "beginner mode". Its a default setting from the manufacture.

Once out of beginner mode, unless you set it, the only distance limitation is range. The vertical distance is limited to 500 meters max, and in us, 400ft is the "legal limit" set by FAA. Technically FAA also says you cannot fly outside of line of sight.. well... line you may maintain, but seing your drone once you went further that 1000ft is a challenge.. even at nigh ;)
