I was skeptical of these products, they seem pretty cheap to warrant such grand claims. However if you think about it the principle is sound, parabolic reflecting in the direction you want.
I went about 7000 feet away and started having weak signal issues, the fix for this is to raise altitude to get a better line of sight, but at that distance it means going above 400
Instead I just popped on the parabolic antennae and kept the same altitude but was able to get out to 10,600 feet away with full signal bars. I prolly could have gone further, but that was already 2 miles away and wanted to return home to make sure I was good on battery. The definitely work very well.
My one complaint is that sometimes you don't want a directional antennae, like if you are coming back home to land and fly the thing behind you, you've purposefully got foil in between the antennae and the aircraft which could be bad news if it loses signal and decides to auto land where it is inside of 20 meters and ends up on your roof or something. The solution is to take off the parabolic once I get it back to 200 feet close to me and then proceed as normal. |
